VARANASI: Coincidence or not, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the newly developed Kashi Vishwanath Dhamo 13th December is considered as a ‘Somavar’ (Monday) and the favorite day of Lord Shiva – for the people. However, it is no coincidence that Hindus worship Lord Shiva on Mondays with the belief that worshiping the presiding deity of Kashi will relieve them of all troubles.
“Monday is considered the most auspicious day for worshiping Lord Shiva. It is a belief that if one worships Lord Shiva on Monday, his dreams come true,” said Professor Nagendra Pandey, a renowned Sanskrit scholar and astrologer, newly nominated chairman of Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust.
He said that though people can worship their favorite deity on any day, Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva. “Monday, in Hindi, Monday is called the day of the moon. Since Lord Shiva adorns the moon on his head, so Monday, the day ruled by the moon, holds great significance especially for worshiping Lord Shiva, Said Prof. Pandey, who has become the new Chairman of KVTT. In addition, a five-member KVTT board was also formed with the nominations of Professor Chandramouli Upadhyay, Pandit Prasad Dixit, Professor Brijbhushan Ojha, Pandit Deepak Malviya and K Ventak Raman Ghanpati. “In our religion, every deity has a favorite day. Lord Shiva is pleased with the worship performed on Mondays, as he likes the moon,” said Prof Chandramouli Upadhyay.
