PM Modi's high level meeting on Afghanistan, top ministers present

Afghan crisis: Over 1,650 people have applied to return to India, ANI reported.

Meeting underway at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to take stock of the situation in war-torn Afghanistan. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are attending the meeting.

India pulled out today Embassy staff in Kabul, which fell on the Taliban on Sunday. Sources said the embassy personnel, including the Indo-Tibetan Border Police on security duty, were sent back in two Air Force planes.

News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that the embassy, ​​however, is not closed and local staff are providing consular services.

ANI reported that over 1,650 people have applied to return to India.
