PM Modi will be greeted with ‘Vedic mantras’ in Baidyanath Dham, blowing of conch

“As soon as the Prime Minister reaches the VIP door of the temple, he will be greeted with flowers, amid blowing of conch shells by a group of 11 priests performing ‘sandhya aarti’ in the temple. They will then be taken to the ‘Samukh Dwar’ (front door) for ‘Ganesh Pujan’. “The prime minister will perform puja in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and ‘Vedic mantra’ will be chanted by the priest,” Kartik Nath Thakur, general secretary of Panda Dharmarakshini Sabha, told PTI.

Thakur, who has welcomed several dignitaries, including President Ram Nath Kovind and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, to the temple, said a group of 11 priests would chant ‘Vedic mantras’ and ‘Swasti path’ while performing religious rituals. Thakur, a member of the Baba Baidyanath shrine, said PM Modi would be there at around 2.30 pm and after offerings were made, the priests of the Dharmaraksha Sabha would give him a ‘pratik chincha’, a memento and blessings. board. He said that it is a moment of ‘proud’ for Deoghar and Jharkhand.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm among the priests here. they all pray that India Has become a major force under the leadership of PM Modi,” he said. Another priest of Baba Baidyanath Dham temple, Dr Prakash Bhardwaj, told PTI, “All arrangements have been made for special worship in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.” He said that the Prime Minister will perform Rudrabhishek by offering curd, milk, turmeric, honey, flowers, belpatra and peda.

Thakur and Bhardwaj mentioned that special security measures have been put in place by the Special Protection Group (SPG) for the PM’s visit to the city, and at least priests have been allowed to attend the event. PM Modi had tweeted on Monday: “Had the privilege of having ‘Darshan’ and worship at Baba Baidyanath Temple in the holy city of Deoghar just before the start of Shravan. Baidyanath Dham Deoghar is one of the most sacred places for us.” He also mentioned that the temple attracts people from all over the world and during his visit, “some components of the development project in the temple will be inaugurated” which will promote spiritual tourism.

An official said that as a precautionary measure for the safety of all those accompanying PM Modi during the puja at Baidyanath Dham, a test for Kovid-19 has been done. Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Majunath Bhajantri urged the devotees to visit Baidyanath Dham only after 3.30 pm on Tuesday to avoid inconvenience due to security arrangements. Apart from paying obeisance to Lord Shiva at the temple, Modi will also lay the foundation stone for various development initiatives worth over Rs 16,800 crore and participate in an 11.5 km long roadshow. The Deputy Commissioner also said that people from far and wide were reaching Deoghar to participate in the Shravani Mela starting from July 14 and arrangements have been made for their safety.

Shravani Mela is considered to be the biggest socio-religious event of Jharkhand, for which more than 35 lakh devotees from all over the country and abroad gather in the Baba Baidyanath temple every year in the month of Shravan. BJP workers claimed that they lit over one lakh earthen lamps across the district on Monday evening to welcome the PM.

Some leaders of the saffron party, including Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey, have termed the 11.5 km long roadshow as a “historic event”. Posters and banners welcoming the PM have been put up in many parts of Deoghar.

According to officials, lakhs of people are expected to attend or take part in the roadshow on Tuesday, and measures are being taken in the area to ensure that the event runs smoothly.
