PM Modi US Visit Updates: He will also hold talks with Scott Morrison and Yoshihide Suga today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on an official visit to the US, is meeting with US Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington DC. Kamala Harris is the first woman, the first black person, and the first Indian-American to become the Vice President of the United States.
Earlier, the PM held bilateral talks with his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison. Earlier in the day, he held one-on-one meetings with the CEOs of Qualcomm, Adobe, First Solar, General Atomics and Blackstone in Washington.
Apart from US Vice President Kamala Harris, PM Modi will also meet other heads of state like Scott Morrison of Australia and Yoshihide Suga of Japan today.
This will be the first in-person meeting between US Vice President Harris and PM Modi after the two spoke over the phone in June amid the deadly COVID-19 wave in India.
PM Modi, who America’s seventh trip Since assuming office in 2014, he will travel to New York on 24 September and address the United Nations General Assembly the next day.

“India and the US are natural partners. We have common values, geopolitical interests,” PM Modi said in a joint media appearance with Harris.
Noting that India and the US are the largest and oldest democracies, PM Modi said that both the countries share values and their cooperation is also gradually increasing.
This is the first meeting between the two leaders. Harris had earlier spoken to Modi over the phone in June during the Kovid-19 crisis in India.
“I am confident that our bilateral relationship will scale new heights under President Joe Biden and you,” PM Modi said, describing Harris as “a source of inspiration to many in the world”. He invited Harris to visit India.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a tweet that PM Narendra Modi and First Solar CEO Mark Widmar discussed India’s renewable energy scenario on Thursday. “The CEO shares plans to use the PLI scheme to manufacture solar power devices with unique thin film technology and integrate India’s flag into the global supply chain,” the tweet read.

PM Modi begins his engagements in the US with a meeting with prominent US CEOs. The Prime Minister held a one-on-one meeting with the CEOs of Qualcomm, Adobe, First Solar, General Atomics and Blackstone in Washington.
