New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Will visit Uttar Pradesh on Monday and will launch Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana in Varanasi at 1.15 pm, said Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate nine medical colleges of the state in Siddharthnagar at around 10.30 am.
According to an official statement, he will also inaugurate various development projects Varanasi to cost more than Rs 5200 crore.
“Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMASBY) will be one of the biggest pan-India schemes to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the country. This will be in addition to the National Health Mission,” the PMO said.
It further said that PMASBY aims to fill critical gaps in public health infrastructure, particularly in critical care facilities and primary care in both urban and rural areas. It will provide support to 17,788 rural health and wellness centers in 10 high focus states. In addition, 11,024 urban health and wellness centers will be set up in all the states.
Critical care services will be available through exclusive critical care hospital blocks in all the districts of the country with a population of more than 5 lakhs, while the remaining districts will be covered through referral services.
Through a network of laboratories across the country, people will have access to the full range of diagnostic services in the public health care system. Integrated public health laboratories will be set up in all districts.
Under PMASBY, one National Institute for Health, 4 new National Institutes for Virology, one Regional Research Forum for WHO South-East Asia Region, 9 Biosafety Level III Laboratories, 5 new Regional National Center for Disease Control to be set up .
PMASBY aims to build an IT enabled disease surveillance system by developing a network of surveillance laboratories at block, district, regional and national level in metropolitan areas. Integrated Health Information Portal will be expanded to all States/UTs to cover all Public Health Laboratories.
PMASBY aims to strengthen 33 existing public health units at points of operation and 17 new public health units to effectively detect, investigate, prevent and combat public health emergencies and disease outbreaks. It will also work towards creating a trained frontline health workforce to deal with any public health emergency.
The nine medical colleges to be inaugurated are located in Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Jaunpur districts. Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for “Establishment of New Medical Colleges Linked to District/ Referral Hospitals”, 8 Medical Colleges have been sanctioned and 1 Medical College at Jaunpur has been made functional by the State Government through its own resources.
Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, preference is given to deprived, backward and aspirational districts. The objective of the scheme is to increase the availability of health professionals, correct the existing geographical imbalance in the distribution of medical colleges and effectively utilize the existing infrastructure of district hospitals. Under the three phases of the scheme, 157 new medical colleges have been sanctioned across the country, out of which 63 medical colleges are already functional.
UP Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath And Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will also be present during the program.
