PM Modi to lay foundation stone of 1,406 projects worth over ₹80,000 crore in UP today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the 3rd Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit on Friday and will lay the foundation stone of 1,406 projects worth over Rs 80,000 crore in the state. PM Modi is also scheduled to visit Paraunkh, the native village of President Ram Nath Kovind in Kanpur. He will accompany Kovind to Pathri Mata Mandir and later he will visit Dr BR Ambedkar Bhawan. They will also visit the President’s ancestral home, Milan Kendra, which was donated for public use and converted into a community centre.

Here’s everything you need to know

  1. Prominent industrialists including Gautam Adani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Sajjan Jindal and Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani are expected to attend the event.
  2. The projects include sectors as diverse as agriculture and allied industries, IT and electronics, MSMEs, manufacturing, renewable energy, pharma, tourism, defense and aerospace, and handlooms and textiles.
  3. Today’s investment ceremony will fund at least 805 projects in the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, 275 in agriculture and allied industries and 65 in pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
  4. The other projects will include Rs 1,183 crore related to education sector, Rs 489 crore related to seven dairy and Rs 224 crore related to animal husbandry.
  5. There are 90 lakh MSMEs in the state – the highest – which is 14.2 per cent of all such projects in the country. In the groundbreaking ceremony 3.0, a total investment of Rs 4,459 crore will be made in the new MSMEs being set up in the state. Out of these, two units will be started in Agra, three in Aligarh, two in Amethi, one in Ayodhya, seven in Barabanki, two in Bareilly, one in Chandauli, one in Etawah, two in Fatehpur, one in Firozabad and 40 in Gautam. Other places in the state include Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad.
  6. Projects in agriculture and allied industries will get Rs 11,297 crore, IT and electronics Rs 7,876 crore and manufacturing Rs 6,227 crore.

The first UP Investors Summit was held in 2018 and the second in 2019. During the first summit, 81 projects worth over Rs 61,500 crore were launched, while during the second summit 290 projects with an investment of over Rs 67,000 crore were launched. The cash will flow to fund seven data centers worth Rs 19,928 crore and 13 infrastructure projects worth Rs 6,632 crore.

Street light poles and dividers have been painted on all roads leading to Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomti Nagar. Special lighting arrangements have also been made to create a festival-like atmosphere. Extensive security is being ensured at the venue with heavy deployment of police personnel.
