UP Global Investors Summit 2023: Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow is being decked up for the three-day ‘Global Investors Summit 2023’, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (February 10).
Several ministers from the central and state government and several prominent industrialists are expected to participate in the February 10-12 event.
According to information provided by the state government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and State Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi as well as industrialists Mukesh Ambani, K Chandrasekaran, Kumar Mangalam Birla And Anand Mahindra will address the inaugural session of the summit.

According to the statement, Union ministers including Rajnath Singh, Ashwini Vaishnav, G Kishan Reddy, RK Singh, Smriti Irani and Pashupati Kumar Paras will participate in various sessions on Friday.
Besides Prime Minister Modi, over 15 cabinet ministers including President Draupadi Murmu and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari are expected to attend the event.
“We hope that more and more representatives from leading industries will participate in the summit,” said Abhishek Prakash, CEO of Invest UP, the lead department responsible for organizing UPGIS (UP Global Investors Summit).

The event assumes significance for the state which initially targeted to attract investment proposals worth Rs 10 lakh crore in UPGIS-2023, and later revised it to Rs 17.3 lakh crore.
Almost all cabinet ministers of UP including Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak will be present at the mega event. On the first day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address the public meeting. Uttar Pradesh Minister Nand Gopal Nandi will give the welcome speech.
The state government has also made arrangements for live telecast of the inaugural session. The state government has made arrangements for the event at a vacant land in Vrindavan Yojna, located near the Lucknow airport and the district headquarters.
State-of-the-art hangars equipped with modern facilities have been set up in an area of 25,000 square metres, officials said.

As the much-awaited three-day Global Investors Summit 2023 is set to begin on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the whole world will witness a new story of development of the state on this day. Yogi said during the inauguration of various projects near the Amausi airport, “The whole world will see a new story of UP’s development on Friday in GIS 2023 to be held in the capital’s Vrindavan. There are innumerable investment opportunities within the state.” The inauguration of projects worth Rs 159 crore related to the capital a day ago is a testimony to this.

Partner countries including Singapore, Denmark, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and the UK, as well as various government departments and private companies, have been allocated space to set up exhibitions there.
According to officials, preparations for the summit started about two months ago.
“Investor conferences were held at departmental and district level. Special roadshows were held in different parts of the country and 21 cities in 16 countries across the world to attract large investments,” said an official.
Arrangements made for the Investors Summit:
- The roads leading to the venue have been decorated. Roads are being repaired and expanded at various places on Shaheed Path, Sultanpur Road, Lohia Path and the road leading to Shaheed Path from Samtamulak Chauraha.
- Officials said that while a large number of painters have been deputed to paint the road sides, a similar army of men has been tasked with pruning trees, planting ornamental plants all along the way leading to the venue Is.
- Pressure has been made on the electricity department for proper arrangement of lights on the entire route.
- Huge hoardings with pictures of PM Modi and CM Adityanath have been put up on these routes.
- The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has deployed additional police and traffic personnel on the roads leading to Vrindavan Yojna for the event.
- Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said, “Along with the policemen of Lucknow Police Commissionerate, 28 IPS, 68 PPS and over 5,500 additional police personnel have been deployed to ensure security arrangements.
- Thirty companies of PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) and parliamentary forces have also been deployed to look after the order, he said, adding that commando units of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) would also be deployed at strategic locations.
- Arrangements have been made to improve the traffic system. An alert has also been issued to every district. He said that proper arrangements are being made for patrolling on the borders of the districts.
UP State Industrial Development Authority gets further Rs 3 lakh crore investment from GIS

“The investment proposals received include foreign capital investment of Rs 90,000 crore from countries such as the US, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. Officials said the authority has also received investments of Rs 1.53 lakh crore from other states in India. Meanwhile, the proposed investments are for various sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, logistics parks, warehouses as well as industrial units. “An investment of Rs 82,000 crore will be made only for setting up logistics parks and warehouses,” the officials further said.
