PM Modi to address webinar on Energy for Sustainable Development, to highlight Centre’s initiatives

new Delhi: In an ongoing series of webinars, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the plenary session of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) webinar on the topic “Energy for Sustainable Development” from 10:00 am to 10:30 am today.

The webinar will discuss the initiatives taken by the Center in the Energy and Resources Sector which include: Budget 2022 Announcements and ideas for effective implementation of these initiatives.

The Ministries of Power, Petroleum and Natural Gas, New and Renewable Energy, Coal, Mines, External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change will all be part of the webinars.

MNRE in its official statement said that the webinar will have three separate sessions. PM Modi’s speech in the plenary session will be followed by six thematic breakout sessions. Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister RK Singh will preside over the concluding session.

MNRE will organize a breakout session on “Expanding Renewable Energy” with eminent speakers from the public and private sectors.

The session will have the following two focus areas: (a) Solar Manufacturing: India aims to install about 300 GW of solar power capacity by 2030.

In order to reduce dependence on imports and encourage domestic solar PV manufacturing, the Government has taken various policy and program measures to increase solar manufacturing in the country.

(b) Green Hydrogen: During his Independence Day speech last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a National Green Hydrogen Mission and aimed to make India a global hub for green hydrogen production and export.

MNRE has developed the National Green Hydrogen Mission with the objectives of making key sectors of the economy carbon-free, contributing to India’s energy independence and acting as an impetus for the global clean energy transition.
