PM Modi shares excerpts of Dr BR Ambedkar’s speech on the occasion of Constitution Day


New Delhi: On the occasion of Constitution Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an excerpt from Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s speech from November 4, 1949, when the proposal to adopt the Draft Constitution was moved.

“Greetings to our citizens on Constitution Day. On this special day, sharing a part of Dr. Ambedkar’s speech in the Constituent Assembly on 4 November 1948 in which he moved a resolution to adopt the Draft Constitution as decided by the Drafting Committee ,” the PM wrote on his Twitter handle.

Constitution Day is celebrated on 26 November to mark the day of the formal adoption of the supreme legal document by the Constituent Assembly. This year, it will be celebrated in the Central Hall of Parliament, beginning with President Ram Nath Kovind’s speech at 11 am. PM Modi will also attend this program.

Giving information about joining the program through Twitter on the eve of Constitution Day, the PM said, “Tomorrow, November 26 will be marked as Constitution Day. It is a day to remember the extraordinary efforts of the great people who made our constitution. I will attend 2 events tomorrow. First in Central Hall at 11 am and second at Vigyan Bhawan at 5:30 pm.

After the President’s speech, the entire country is invited to read the Preamble of the Constitution made available to the public in 23 languages ​​on a portal of the Ministry of Culture.

On the occasion, Vice President, Venkaiah Naidu also tweeted, “My warm greetings to the citizens of our country on the 72nd #ConstitutionDay. We as a nation are forever indebted to Dr. BR Ambedkar and our founding fathers for drafting a visionary constitution based on the ideals of inclusive justice, liberty and equality.
