Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for a two-day visit to Karnataka from today. He will participate in several events including leading the International Yoga Day event on June 21 in Mysore.

On Monday, PM Modi will take part in the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He will also inaugurate the Ambedkar School of Economics. In addition, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for various railways and programs related to the National Highways Authority of India.

According to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, PM Modi will also address a public meeting in Bengaluru.

In the evening, PM Modi will visit Suttoor Math and Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore. At Suttur Math, the Prime Minister will dedicate the Veda Pathsala building to the public and release commentaries on Yoga and Bhakti.

On Tuesday morning, PM Modi will participate in the International Yoga Day program. The program will start from 6.30 am to 7.45 am. After this PM Modi will leave for Thiruvananthapuram.

PM Modi’s two-day visit to Karnataka, where assembly elections are due less than a year from now, is being seen as a key component of the BJP’s offensive to retain the key south state.

Ahead of the general election in 2024, assembly elections in Karnataka next year are crucial for the BJP, which sends 28 MPs to the Lok Sabha. Karnataka is the only South Indian state where the party is a major player against the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular).
