PM Modi Launches 91 FM Transmitters, Says ‘Working For Democratisation Of Technology’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated 91 FM transmitters in 85 districts of 18 states and 2 union territories to further boost radio connectivity in the country. PM Modi in his address said that the government is constantly working for the democratization of technology. If India has to grow to its full potential, it is important that no Indian should feel deprived of opportunity: PM Modi

The Prime Minister underlined that the inauguration of 91 FM transmitters furthers government policies that give priority to the underprivileged. Making modern technology accessible and affordable is key to this, he said, adding that the laying of optical fiber in villages and the cheapest data cost have made access to information easier.

He said that this has given a new impetus to digital entrepreneurship in the villages. Similarly, UPI has helped small businesses and street vendors to access banking services. PM Modi also underlined the emotional connect of his generation with radio. Referring to his Mann Ki Baat programme, he said, “It is an added pleasure for me that I have a relationship with radio as a host as well.” It was possible to connect with the countrymen only through radio.

Through this, I remained connected to the strength of the country and the collective power of duty among the countrymen. The 100th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ will be completed on April 30 (Sunday). PM Modi addresses the country through this radio program on the last Sunday of every month. The radio program started on the occasion of Vijayadashami on October 3, 2014, and is broadcast through multiple platforms in 22 Indian languages, 29 dialects and 11 international languages.
