PM Modi Halts Convoy in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad to Give Way to Ambulance | WATCH

Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cavalcade was passing through the streets of Ahmedabad during a massive roadshow, he was nothing short of compassionate when he stopped his vehicle to give way to an ambulance.

In a video tweeted by news agency ANI, PM Modi’s motorcade can be seen stopping midway to give way to an ambulance on the streets of Gujarat’s Ahmedabad.

PM Modi did a 30 kilometer roadshow in Gujarat

PM Modi on Thursday held a 30-km roadshow in the city of Ahmedabad, where polling will be held in the second phase of the Gujarat assembly elections.

A large number of people greeted Modi on both sides of the road and showered flowers during the roadshow which began at around 5.20 pm. Standing on a specially designed vehicle, the Prime Minister waved to the crowd.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said in a release that the mega roadshow will cover the eastern side of Ahmedabad and end at IOC Circle in Chandkheda area in the western side of the city.

The roadshow will pass through various parts of the city including Hirawadi, Hatkeshwar, Maninagar, Danilimda, Jivraj Park, Ghatlodiya, Naranpura and Sabarmati. It will cover 13 seats in Gandhinagar-South along with Ahmedabad city, the release said.

In the first phase of polling, 89 seats in Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions went to polls on Thursday, while polling for the remaining 93 seats, including 16 in Ahmedabad city, will be held on December 5.

First phase of polling ends in Gujarat

An average voter turnout of 60.20 per cent was recorded till 5 pm on Thursday in 89 assembly seats in the first phase of Gujarat polls, election officials said.

While polling began at 8 am and ended at 5 pm, the final turnout would be higher as the process continued at polling stations where voters had reached before 5 pm and were standing in queues.

The fate of 788 candidates will be decided in the first phase.

Barring a few incidents, polling was largely peaceful in all the 89 seats in South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch regions where polling was held in the first phase.

The turnout figure was provisional as data was not received from some polling stations and did not include postal ballots. Election the commission said.

Voting was halted at some places due to malfunctioning of Electronic Voting Machines as well as Control Unit and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), but the faulty unit was replaced and the process resumed.
