PM Modi expressed grief over the death of Oscar Fernandes; Rahul Gandhi calls it a ‘personal loss’

Prime minister Narendra Modi Condoled the demise of veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes on Monday. Fernandes died at a private hospital in Karnataka. He was 80 years old.

“Saddened by the passing away of Shri Oscar Fernandes, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. My condolences and prayers are with his family and well wishers in this time of grief. May his soul rest in peace,” the PMO tweeted.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over the death of Fernandes, terming it a “personal loss”.

“My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Oscar Fernandes ji. This is a personal loss for me. He was a guide and mentor to many of us in the Congress party. He will be remembered and fondly remembered for his contribution,” Gandhi tweeted.

Fernandes was hospitalized in July after falling while doing yoga at home. He also had a surgery to remove a clot in his brain.
