With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) registering a historic victory in the Punjab Assembly elections by securing a three-fourth majority with 92 seats, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated the party and assured all possible support from the Center for the state’s welfare. Gave.

Newly elected Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann defeated Dalveer Singh Goldy of Congress by a margin of 58,206 votes from Dhuri assembly constituency in Sangrur district. This is AAP’s first victory in the state and a major improvement from its performance in the 2017 elections when it was second only to the Congress.

The ruling Congress managed to get 18 seats in the 117-member assembly, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ended up with two. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) got three seats and Bahujan Samaj Party got only one seat.
