PM Kisan Yojana: How To Avail PM Kisan Benefits, Eligibility; Who can apply and who can’t?

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan): The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly started collecting the 10th installment Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi crores of farmers across the country. Under PM Kisan YojanaEligible landholding farmer families get Rs 2,000 every four months, which is Rs 6,000 annually. PM Kisan Yojana is one of the most beneficial schemes targeted at the benefit of farmers. It was flagged off by the central government led by PM Modi years ago. The Center has so far provided Rs 1.57 lakh crore to those farmers who are registered under PM Kisan Yojana.

PM Kisan Features:

According to PM Kisan websiteIt is a central sector scheme with 100% funding from the Government of India. Under this scheme, an amount of Rs 6,000 annually is released by the Center to the landholding farmer families including husband, wife and minor children. Funds are directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries to avoid any discrepancy.

Documents Required for PM Kisan

The documents to be submitted before the authorities include proof of name, age, gender and category (SC/ST). Apart from this, the Aadhaar number of the beneficiary is also necessary. Documents confirming the ownership of the land and the beneficiary’s bank account details are also required.

PM Kisan Eligibility Criteria

Any government scheme has a certain eligibility criteria, on the basis of which benefits are released. Mall and marginal farmers who are Indian citizens are eligible for PM Kisan Yojana. In addition, all landholding farmer families, having cultivable land in their names, are eligible to get benefits under the scheme.

Who cannot apply for PM Kisan Yojana?

According to the PM Kisan website, these are the categories that cannot be availed by PM Kisan:

a) All institutional land holders

b) Farmer families in which one or more of its members are:

Categories:-

I. past and present holders of constitutional posts

Second former and present Ministers/Ministers of State and former/present members of Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha/State Legislative Assemblies/State Legislative Councils, former and present TTs/Ayers of Municipal Corporations, former and present Presidents of District Panchayats.

iii. All serving or retired officers and employees of Central and State Government Ministries or Offices

iv. All persons receiving monthly pension of Rs.10,000 or more

v. All persons paying income tax in the previous assessment year

vi. Working professionals like doctors, professors, engineers etc.

How much has the Center spent on PM Kisan till now?

Earlier, government sources had told CNBC TV18 that the Center has so far spent Rs 43,000 crore for the PM KISAN scheme in the financial year 2022 to help farmer families. Sources further said that with the release of the third installment for the December to March quarter, the Rs 65,000 crore budget allocated for the current fiscal will be utilized. He said that additional Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,000 crore may be required for PM Kisan in FY 2012 as more and more farmers are registering for this scheme.
