The next installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme will be transferred on August 9, the central government announced on Tuesday. To help the farmers and the agriculture industry, the central government announced the PM Kisan Yojana during the Union Budget 2019. Under this scheme, the center provides financial benefits of Rs 6,000 every year to the eligible farmer families. The benefit is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. “Benefits under the PM-Kisan scheme are transferred over three, four-monthly periods. Every four-month period, Rs 2,000 is transferred to eligible farmer families. Hence, a benefit of Rs 6,000 is transferred annually,” Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh had said in the Lok Sabha last week.

“As of the end of June this year, 68.76 crore transactions have been done under the PM-Kisan scheme,” the Agriculture Minister said. “The total number of transactions done under PM-KISAN scheme till June 30, 2021 is 68,76, 32,104 of which the total number of failed transactions is less than 1 per cent,” he further mentioned.

Under PM-KISAN, the first installment is deposited in the accounts of farmers for the period from April 1 to July 31, the second for the period from August 1 to November 30 and the third for the period from December 1 to March 31. Farmer families having joint land up to two acres are eligible for this scheme. This financial assistance scheme supported by the central government acts as a cushion during financial difficulties in a farmer’s family.
