‘PM is insulting Punjabiyat, trying to save himself from humiliation’: Navjot Singh Sidhu on security breach

Navjot Singh Sidhu alleged that PM Modi is trying to save himself from humiliation and termed this lapse as a failure of BJP.

Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that he was insulting Punjabiyat by saying that his life was in danger. Sidhu was reacting to the security breach during the Prime Minister’s visit to Punjab and called the incident a big drama and drama.

Sidhu alleged that PM Modi was trying to save himself from humiliation and termed this lapse as a failure of the BJP. “The PM is trying to save himself from humiliation… Only 500 (public) came when arrangements were made for 70,000 people.”

He questioned whether the responsibility of PM’s security rests with the Punjab Police. He alleged that several central agencies were also involved in the security lapse.

The statement came after the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab on Wednesday. The ministry said in a statement that the prime minister was stuck on the flyover for about 20 minutes after some protesters blocked the road.

BJP leaders had blamed the Punjab government for the security breach, while others alleged that the violation was planned by Congress leaders in Delhi.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said that this incident was done to disturb the harmony in the state to get votes in between the elections in the states. He also targeted Captain Amarinder Singh for calling BJP’s “cage parrot” and said that the BJP has many such parrots in Punjab.

Sindhu said that every Punjabi will fight till the last breath to protect the country. He also said that PM Modi does not belong to the BJP only, but to the whole country.
