In a tweet on Saturday night, Saina congratulated the Chief Minister for the victory of the BJP in the election of the post of District Panchayat President.

Badminton player Saina Nehwal has come under attack from opposition leaders after congratulating Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his victory in the Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President Jayant Chaudhary did not like Saina’s congratulatory message to Yogi and called Saina a government shuttler.

What did Saina say?

In a tweet on Saturday night, Saina congratulated the Chief Minister for the victory of the BJP in the election of the post of District Panchayat President. Saina wrote, ‘Heartfelt congratulations CM Yogi Adityanath sir for the huge victory in the election of district panchayat president in UP.’ Saina had joined BJP even before the Delhi elections.

Jayant criticized

Retweeting Saina’s tweet, RLD President Jayant Chaudhary took a dig at Saina. Jayant wrote, ‘Government shuttlers are extolling the BJP’s ability to crush the mandate. I understand that voters need to play hard drop shots at celebrities trying to influence their decision.

BJP won 65 out of 75 districts in Panchayat elections
This time BJP has registered a record victory in the UP District Panchayat President election. BJP has won 65 out of 75 seats in the state. BJP-backed candidates have won two seats. Whereas SP has got 5 seats. One has been captured by its ally RLD. Raja Bhaiya’s party has won the Pratapgarh seat.
In the 2016 presidential election, the SP had won 63 seats. Earlier, voting was held in 53 districts of the state for the election of Zilla Panchayat President. Voting lasted from 11 am to 3 pm. The results have also started coming from 4 pm onwards. BJP candidates have registered victory in 44 districts including Lucknow, Ayodhya, Mathura, Kushinagar, Sultanpur, Auraiya, Fatehpur. At the same time, candidates were already elected unopposed in 22 districts of the state. Of these, 21 seats were captured by the BJP and one by the SP.
