Congress Tripura President Piyush Kanti Biswas resigned on Saturday, fueling speculation of his joining Mamata Banerjee-led TMC.
“I would like to thank all the Congress leaders, supporters with gratitude for your cooperation during my tenure as TPCC president (caretaker). Today I have resigned from the post of President and have also retired from politics. My sincere gratitude to Hon’ble CP Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji,” he tweeted.
His resignation comes a week after former All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev quit and joined the Trinamool Congress.
