Noida: A pink vending zone Will be set up in Noida in the coming days. To promote employment among women, the authority will launch a scheme and determine the location for setting up women umbrellas in such areas.
The authority will also introduce the concept of gender budgeting while planning its resources from the next financial year to promote equity.
How to improve access among the female population will be considered during the planning phases. chief executive officer of Noida Authority Ritu Maheshwari said that while formulating policies, the focus would be on empowerment of women population in implementation of programs and schemes and resource allocation. The authority had earmarked an expenditure of over Rs 3,000 crore in the current financial year.
Officials said the gender gap in the work areas covered by the authority would be bridged, and allocations could be made during the budget process.
Going a step further, the authority on Wednesday allotted duty points to 26 women security personnel, whom it had recruited recently. “When we found that the defense services and defense academies had started accepting women candidates, we realized it was time to give front-end security roles to women employees,” said Officer on Special Duty, Jyotsna Yadav.
For the first time, women security personnel have been included by the authority. Officials said that the maximum (8) of these will be posted at Noida Stadium in Sector 21A, while four will be posted in the Sector 6 building of the authority.
The remainder will be deployed in public parks across the city. Authority officials have identified places where a lot of women visitors spend time and felt that it would be easier to reach women personnel.
The authority said that participation of women is also being encouraged in the Public Health Department and more staff will be included. However, women employees are being hired through a manpower consultant for the roles. “Only the state government can offer permanent posts after proper recruitment drive. We have a mandate to hire only contractual employees,” said an authority official.
Around 3,700 vendors have already registered with the authority. However, a scheme will be launched in the coming month to register only women applicants, the authority official said.
