PhonePe raises objection as Congress puts up posters with MP CM’s face on scan

New Delhi: The poster war is proving risky for the Indian National Congress as digital payments company PhonePe has objected to the “unauthorised use” of its logo for the Congress’ political campaign in Madhya Pradesh.

“PhonePe objects to the unauthorized use of its brand logo by any third party, whether political or non-political. We are not associated with any political campaign or party,” said the firm in a Twitter post.

“TeaThe PhonePe logo is a registered trademark of our company and any unauthorized use of the Intellectual Property Rights of PhonePe will invite legal action. we humbly request @INCMP To remove posters and banners bearing our brand logo and colours,” it added.

In a fresh episode of the poster war with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s pamphlets were pasted in Gwalior, which is also the hometown of BJP leader and Union cabinet minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Preparations are underway for the assembly elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh this year.

Meanwhile, state Home Minister Narottam has reacted to the situation saying that the government will take action if PhonePe lodges a complaint.

He said, ‘Congress is doing dirty politics to hide its internal discord. Congress workers were seen putting up posters in Chhindwara, Gwalior, Narsinghpur, Bhopal and other places.
Narottam Mishra said, CCTV footage has revealed that Congress workers have put up these objectionable posters.

However, the Madhya Pradesh Police has already registered a complaint against the unknown person who put up the poster.
