Microsoft’s Phone Link app has been available for Android users for a while, but iOS users lacked the functionality until now. After announcing the availability of the app for iOS last month and launching the preview, the tech giant has made the app widely available in 85 regions. Lastly, users with Windows PCs can use iMessage.

With the updated app, users can make and receive calls, send and receive iMessages, and view iPhone notifications. However, there are still limits. Users cannot share pictures or videos, and group messaging is not supported. Additionally, Microsoft notes that the messages are “session-based” and only appear when the iPhone is connected to a Windows PC.

To try this feature, follow these steps:

  • First, make sure you have the latest update of the Phone Link app. If not, go to the Windows Store, find the Phone link, and download the latest available update. Then, open the Phone Link app and select “iPhone”.
  • Next, the first time you open the Phone Link app, you’ll see two options: Android or iPhone. So, select the iPhone and follow the steps – including scanning the QR code, approving on your iPhone, and opening the App Clip version of the Phone Link app on your iPhone – to enable Bluetooth.
  • The app will ask for various permissions, such as accessing your contacts. Approve these permissions.
  • Once set up, enjoy iMessage on your Windows PC.

Be aware that functionality is limited due to Apple’s restrictions. You won’t be able to send pictures or videos, and notifications will only appear on your iPhone. Also, once you close the session, all messages will be lost.
