Kanpur: A 34-year-old private pharma company employee was killed, while his friend was seriously injured when a speeding crane rammed his bike in Naubasta area of ​​the city on Tuesday.
The company employee on one of the pillars got stuck near the wheel of the crane and collided with the divider and was dragged for a few meters after which he died, while his partner was seriously injured.
Puneet Pal (34), a resident of Karrahi Road, was a manager in a private pharma company in the city. On Tuesday afternoon, he was going from Bidhnu to Naubasta with his friend Satwik.
A speeding crane hit the bike from behind on Hamirpur Road near Naubasta Bamba. Due to this, Satwik was injured by falling on the left side, while Puneet got stuck in the iron angle near the wheel of the crane.
Locals raised an alarm but the driver, fearing to be caught, drove the crane at high speed, injuring Puneet seriously and died on the spot.
Angry locals chased the crane and caught its driver and informed the police control room after thrashing him badly.
The police reached the spot, sent the body for post-mortem and took the injured to the hospital. After this, the police took the driver to the police station by crane. Meanwhile, angry locals tried to set the crane on fire, which blocked the highway. Later, the police pacified the agitators.
DCP South Raveena Tyagi said, a case has been registered against the driver of the crane under relevant sections of the IPC, who has been arrested.
