Phaphamau bridge to remain closed for a month, traffic to be diverted from September 1 Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: Commuters heading towards Phaphamau, Pratapgarh, Lucknow, Sultanpur or Ayodhya and crossing the Phaphamau bridge on the Ganges will have to travel an additional 20 kms from September 1 as the Phaphamau bridge will remain closed for a month due to major repair work. . Will be done on the bridge by the Public Works Department.
For the entire period of the next month, traffic will be diverted for vehicles entering or entering the city from Lucknow side. In this regard, a detailed plan has been sent by the traffic police to the PWD. Under the scheme, light and small vehicles coming from Rae Bareli will enter the city from Phaphamau market via Tharvai-Garapur, Sahason, Andawa, Jhansi. However, large and heavy vehicles coming on this route will enter the city via Sahason-Andawa-Jhansi via Prayagraj bypass (Delhi-Varanasi-Howrah highway) from Nawabganj.
Similarly, vehicles coming towards Teliarganj intersection and Govindpur will be diverted towards Uptron crossroads and Railway overbridge (leading towards Shivkuti police station) from where traffic will be diverted from Bank Road-GT Jawahar via Jhansi . From here vehicles could go towards Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh. Vehicles arriving at MNNIT crossing will also be diverted on the same route.
Roadways buses and all heavy vehicles will be diverted from Public Service Commission crossing and will be taken towards Varanasi-Jaunpur-Pratapgarh-Rae Bareilly via Press Indian-GT Jawahar-Jhunsi.
Similarly, all medium, small and all other vehicles from Civil Lines, Hanuman Mandir Crossroads and Bus Stand will go through Rae Bareli-Lucknow, Pratapgarh-Varanasi via Medical Crossing- Harshvardhan Chauraha-Jhansi. Under the proposed plan, traffic is to be closed from September 01 to 30 due to repair work.
Officials of the UP State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) have also announced an extension of the fair to various destinations, including re-running of buses on a very long route after diversion.
