PFI was banned in 2022

In September last year, the PFI was banned and declared an “unlawful association” by the central government after several of its office-bearers were raided and arrested by the NIA and other central agencies and state police departments.

The action has been taken under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the immovable property has been termed as “proceeds of terrorism” by the NIA. The action pertains to an FIR filed against PFI in April last year and a charge sheet was filed before a Delhi court in March this year and 20 entities including PFI were named by the NIA.

CBI seized objectionable documents

“The NIA had conducted searches on two floors of the school premises on September 22 last year. The agency had seized incriminating documents which revealed that the said property was used by the accused, found to be associated with PFI, for organizing arms training for their cadres.The training camps served as a platform to instigate innocent Muslim youth against the government as well as leaders and organizations of a particular community.

The NIA said the camps were also used to “inflame their passions” and “incite” them to adopt violent “jihad”, which was aimed at carrying out terrorist activities.

The agency said its investigation found that the newly recruited PFI cadres were equipped with dangerous weapons like knives, sickles etc. to “attack and kill” prominent leaders who oppose the organisation’s ideology of establishing Islamic rule in India. Was trained to use.

“The NIA investigation had earlier revealed that the accused were part of a criminal conspiracy to establish Khilafat and Islamic rule in India by waging war against the country and overthrowing the democratically elected government.” Accountant/ authorized signatory of bank accounts of PFI,” it added.
