Petrol Price, Diesel Price Below Rs 100 in Delhi Today; Check fuel rates in your city

There is no change in fuel prices in the country for the 27th consecutive day on Friday, June 17 petrol and diesel have remained stable since May 21, when the central government announced a reduction in excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter.

petrol Consumers in Delhi will have to pay Rs 96.72 per liter as compared to Rs 105.41 per liter earlier. Meanwhile, the retail price of diesel in Delhi is Rs 89.62 per liter as against Rs 96.67 per liter earlier. Petrol consumers in Mumbai will have to pay Rs 111.35 per liter, while diesel consumers in the financial capital will have to pay Rs 97.28 per litre. Petrol consumers in Kolkata will have to pay Rs 106.03 per liter, while diesel consumers in the West Bengal capital will have to pay Rs 92.7. Petrol in Chennai is being sold at Rs 102.63 per liter, while diesel is being sold at Rs 94.24 per litre.

Regular revision of petrol and diesel prices in the country is done by public sector OMCs like Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). OMCs revise the fuel price taking into account a number of factors including international crude oil prices and foreign exchange rates. The price of petrol and diesel varies from state to state due to local factors like state tax, VAT (value added tax), freight charges, etc.

Soon after the central government relaxed excise duty on fuel prices, several state governments also reduced VAT on petrol and diesel thereby reducing rising prices. The Kerala state government cut local tax on petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.41 and Rs 1.36 per liter respectively. The Odisha government waived off state-levied taxes on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.23 and Rs 1.36 per liter respectively. The Maharashtra state government reduced VAT on petrol by Rs 2.08 per liter and on diesel by Rs 1.44 per liter. While the Rajasthan government cut VAT on petrol by Rs 2.48 per liter and on diesel by Rs 1.16 per liter.
