Petrol, diesel prices below Rs 100 in many places; Know the rates in your city

Petrol, Diesel Price Today: On Tuesday, November 16, the prices of petrol and diesel remained stable. This was the 13th day in a row that auto fuel prices were not hiked after hitting a record high till the eve of Diwali. On that day the central government had announced reduction in excise duty on the prices of petrol, diesel. After this, the price of petrol and diesel were reduced by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively. Since then several states have followed the signal to reduce auto fuel prices. The move comes amid criticism from the Center after petrol, diesel prices saw record highs and exceeded Rs 100 at most places.

Following the reduction in the price of petrol, the rate of auto fuel was reduced to Rs 103.97 per liter in the national capital. The price remained the same on November 14 as well. Diesel price remained unchanged at Rs 86.67 per liter for the day.

Petrol price in Mumbai dropped below Rs 110 after Center cut excise duty. On November 14, the price of petrol was Rs 109.98 per liter, while the price of diesel was Rs 94.14 per litre.

Petrol price in Kolkata also remained unchanged. The cost of one liter of petrol in Kolkata will be Rs 104.67. In the eastern city, a liter of diesel was available at Rs 89.79 per litre.

Petrol in Chennai was being sold at Rs 101.40 on 14 November. Diesel price also remained unchanged at Rs 91.43 per litre.

The states/UTs that extended additional VAT benefits are Ladakh, Karnataka, Puducherry, Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagr Haveli, Chandigarh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Gujarat, Nagaland, Punjab , Goa, Meghalaya, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Andaman & Nicobar, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Among the states that have not reduced VAT so far, the Congress and its allies have ruled Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. AAP-ruled Delhi, TMC-ruled West Bengal, Left-ruled Kerala, TRS-led Telangana and YSR Congress-ruled Andhra Pradesh have also not deducted VAT.
