Petrol, Diesel Price Today: For the 43rd day in a row, fuel prices India stay steady Ever since the central government cut excise duty in May, Petrol and Diesel Prices have remained stable. Giving relief to all from the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 21 announced a marginal reduction of Rs 8 per liter on petrol and Rs 6 per liter on diesel.
After the big decision of the central government, various state governments also reduced VAT on fuel prices in their state. While the Kerala government reduced the tax on petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.41 and Rs 1.36 per liter respectively, the Odisha government decided to reduce the state tax on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.23 and Rs 1.36 per liter respectively. Not only this, the Maharashtra government also reduced the tax imposed by the state on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.08 per liter and Rs 1.44 per liter. In Rajasthan, VAT has been reduced by Rs 2.48 per liter and on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.16 per liter, everyone has breathed a sigh of relief.
As on Monday, July 04, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel in major cities of India. Since any fluctuation in fuel prices can lead to imbalance of various commodities, it is important to keep a daily watch on the prices.
