Fuel prices remained stable for 30 days on Monday in most cities across the country. Petrol price in Chennai city saw a drop on Saturday as it went up to Rs 99.47 per liter from Rs 102.49 per litre. Meanwhile, retail sale of petrol and diesel continues as before in the other three metros of the country – Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Consumers of diesel in the national capital will have to pay Rs 89.87 per liter, while those buying petrol in Delhi will have to pay Rs 101.84 per liter on Monday. Petrol in Mumbai costs Rs 107.83 per liter, while diesel costs Rs 95.45 per litre.

In Chennai city, diesel price remained unchanged at a record-high level. In the capital of Tamil Nadu, a liter of diesel is being sold for Rs 94.39. State Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan announced the tax cuts while presenting the revised budget for 2021-22 in the Assembly on August 13. The state government announced a reduction of Rs 3 on the price of petrol, bringing it down to Rs 99.47 per litre.
