There was no change in the prices of petrol and diesel across cities as on Friday, December 31. Fuel prices have remained stable ever since the central government cut excise duty on petrol and diesel in November to bring down retail rates from record highs. Barring Delhi, where there was a drop in petrol prices on December 1, both the auto fuel prices have remained stable for close to 60 days. The retail pump prices have come down after the state government meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The tax on petrol (VAT) ranged from 30 to 19.40 per cent, with the prices of both the major fuels remaining unchanged since then.
As per the latest price notification by state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs), petrol price in Delhi is Rs 95.41 per litre, similarly diesel price in the national capital remains at Rs 86.67 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of petrol and diesel in Mumbai was Rs 109.98 per liter and Rs 94.14 per liter respectively.

Meanwhile, in international markets, although oil prices are down 1 per cent in early trade, they are set to post their biggest annual gains in more than a decade, Reuters reported.
