People will have to revolt if BJP calls for ‘Ghar-Ghar ED’: Shiv Sena

Slamming Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil for asking the Enforcement Directorate to probe alleged transfer of funds to bribe voters in the upcoming assembly bypolls in Kolhapur, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday said people would “revolt” if BJP gives door to door ED calls.

In an editorial in party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, the Shiv Sena wondered whether the ED should probe voters in the states from where the BJP had recently won elections. The Shiv Sena challenged the ED and the BJP to launch a probe from Panaji and Sakhal (Sanquelim) seats, where BJP MLA Atanasio Monserrate and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had won.

Shiv Sena said, “Chandrakant Patil has a good plan to get voters checked by the ED. If the slogan ‘Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi’ is combined with ‘Har Har ED, Ghar Ghar ED’, people will will have to rebel.” ,

The by-election to Kolhapur North assembly constituency is to be held on April 12. The seat fell vacant after the death of Congress MLA Chandrakant Jadhav last December. The BJP has fielded Satyajit Kadam, while the Congress has given ticket to Jadhav’s wife Jayshree.

On Sunday, Patil said he would write to the Enforcement Directorate to probe the alleged transfer of money into the accounts of a large number of voters from Kolhapur North. Notably, the ED on Tuesday attached properties belonging to Shiv Sena MP and Saamana executive editor Sanjay Raut.

The ED had earlier arrested two ministers in the MVA government – Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik – on money laundering charges, while the transactions of some MLAs of Shiv Sena, the head of the MVA government, are also being probed by the central agency. , The Shiv Sena also said that terming voters “corrupt” is an insult to the people of Kolhapur, who are known for their progressive approach to those rooted in tradition. The Shiv Sena said the BJP should know their history before threatening Kolhapur and its people, if the ED has to open a separate office in Kolhapur to check voters.
