People Tie Man To Tree, Thrash Him, As His Son Elopes With Woman, He Takes Extreme Step Next

A 50-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district after being tied to a tree and beaten up by villagers after his son eloped with a woman, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place between March 2 and March 4 and was reported to the police on Sunday, an official said.

Superintendent of Police Sachin Sharma said that a case has been registered against six people under sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code at Bachho police post of Chandla police station.

He said that no arrest has been made in this case so far.

A video of the attack in Panchampur village under Chandla police station area surfaced on social media on Monday, in which a man is seen tied to a tree and a woman is feeding him.

According to the police, the accused caught the victim, Udha Ahirwar, on March 2 and allegedly tied her to a tree till the evening of March 4.

The deceased man’s wife has alleged that the two accused took her husband to Panchampur village, where they tied him to a tree and thrashed him badly, an official said.

He said the woman claimed that her husband attacked her because their son had eloped with the granddaughter of one of the accused.

The officer said the victim’s wife claimed that she saw the six accused coming out of the house after dropping her husband and when she went inside, she found him hanging from the ceiling.
