People can only dream about what you have done in cricket: Kevin Pietersen in support of Virat Kohli

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen jumped in support of under-fire Virat Kohli, who posted a picture on his Instagram sharing his perspective. The batting maestro has not been able to score big runs in recent times and is facing criticism from critics and fans for his stellar performances.

Kohli on Saturday shared a picture on social media in which he can be seen sitting in front of a wall, which read: “What if I fall? Oh but my dear, what if you fly away. He captioned the post ‘Perspective’.

It went viral across all platforms on social media as Pietersen left a comment at the bottom of the Instagram post.

“You go big man! What you have done in cricket people can only dream about. And those are some of the best players who have played the game,” Peterson wrote.

He shared it on his Twitter account with a picture of himself and ex India Captain.

The former England captain also posted a picture with Kohli on Instagram and wrote, “Buddy, there have been some great ones in your career who have played the game, only wish they could do what you have done (so far). Be proud, walk tall and enjoy life. There is much more than just the cricket bubble. You will be back, @ViratKohli.”

Kohli and Pietersen had played together for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past when the Indian batsman was in the early stages of his career and the former England captain was already an established name in the cricketing world. The two shared a great rapport both on and off the field.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Babar Azam supported Kohli with a post on Twitter, where he wrote, “This too shall pass. stay strong #Virat Kohli.”

The Pakistan captain was praised for his gesture towards under-fire Kohli. In a press conference, on the eve of Pakistan’s first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, Babar revealed the reasons behind the tweet in favor of Kohli.

“Definitely. Look, as a player, I know you can go through such phases. I also know what phases a player goes through and how one can come out of it.” At that time, you need support,” said the Pakistani captain.

“As a player, I just tweeted thinking it would just give some support. He is one of the best players. He (of cricket) has been playing a lot and he knows how to come out of these situations. It takes time, if you support the players, it will be really good,” Babar said.

In the recently concluded T20I series against England, Kohli scored 12 runs in the two matches he played and before that, his performance with the bat was disappointing in the rescheduled fifth Test against England.

Kohli has been rested for the upcoming white-ball tour of the West Indies despite his poor form in the recent past. However, he is part of India’s squad for the third ODI against England in Manchester on Sunday.
