Opposition blames government for disruption in monsoon session today

New Delhi: Major opposition parties today tried to present a united front and called a meeting to take on the Modi government in the coming days.
In the afternoon, 20 parties, which attended the Congress meeting chaired by Sonia Gandhi, issued a joint statement accusing the Center of failure on several fronts.
The statement blamed the government for the frequent disruptions during the monsoon session of Parliament. He alleged that the NDA government “spearheaded” the Bills without any debate or discussion amid the noise.
On the Pegasus issue, the statement said, “The purchase of Pegasus Military Spyware by the Government of India for surveillance of people is extremely dangerous. Such surveillance is a gross violation of the fundamental right to privacy of the people.” He demanded a Supreme Court-monitored judicial inquiry into the matter.
The parties accused the government of mismanaging the pandemic situation and manipulating the numbers to improve the record. It has been said that vaccination against Covid has not gained the desired momentum.
The parties accused the Center of failing to address the issues of farmers along with the new agricultural laws and MSP. It also said that the government’s policies have devastated the country’s economy and plunged thousands into poverty.
In a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the statement said public sector enterprises are being privatized “to benefit the prime minister’s peers.”
The parties will jointly hold protests across the country from September 20 to 30, the statement said.
While most of the major opposition parties attended the meeting, AAP, SP and BSP stayed away.
