PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was placed under house arrest at her Gupkar residence in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, he led a protest march in Jammu against the Hyderpora killings and demanded a fair investigation and return of the bodies.

Sources say that Mehbooba Mufti was expected to meet the family members of Altaf Ahmed Bhat and Dr Mudasir Gul.

In another development, Mehbooba Mufti’s brother has been asked to appear before the Enforcement Directorate in the national capital today for questioning in a money laundering case.

Tassaduq Hussain Mufti, who was tourism minister in his sister’s cabinet, has been asked to appear before the investigating officer of the case here on Thursday and record his statement under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

He said the probe is related to some money allegedly received from some businesses in Kashmir in their accounts.

Reacting to this, Mehbooba Mufti told PTI that this is a political vendetta against her.

“The moment I raise my voice against any wrongdoing, a summons awaits from someone from my family. This time it was my brother,” she said.
