Telangana folk singer Darshanam Mogilaiah was awarded the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian award, for keeping alive the tradition of rare folk music. Mogilaiah is known for playing and recreating a rare musical instrument, the Kinnera. It is said that around 400 years ago, his ancestors performed in the court of the King of Wanaparthi and Mogilaiah, a fifth generation artist, has kept the family tradition alive.
Darshanam Mogilaiah enthralled the audience with his music and the Telugu film industry has also noticed this priceless talent. He has given voice for the title song of Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film Bhimla Nayak.
Darshanam Mogilaiah was chosen by the makers on the suggestion of Pawan Kalyan to sing the opening lines of the title song of Bhimla Nayak. The folk singer sang the opening part of the song, which also includes the voices of Alphons Joseph, S Thaman, Sri Krishna, Pridvi Chandra and Ram Miriala in the chorus. Ramjogayya Shastri has written the song while S Thaman has composed the track.
Pawan Kalyan, in a statement issued by his Jana Sena Party, has congratulated the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardees.
Earlier, Pawan Kalyan Learning Center for Human Excellence, a trust set up by the actor, had also announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to Darshanam Mogilaiah. The actor-turned-politician shared a picture of himself with Darshan Moghlaiya in a tweet.
Pawan Kalyan not only praised the Telangana artist but also congratulated all the award winners from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
He wrote about the famous poet Garikapati Narasimha Rao, Saukar Janaki and the late artist Gosavidu Sheikh Hassan, as well as others who received Padma awards. He also remembered former Chief of Defense Staff, late General Bipin Rawat, who was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
Pawan Kalyan said that Krishna Ella and Suchitra Ella of Bharat Biotech have been awarded Padma Bhushan for their contribution in making India’s scientific expertise world famous.
