10 coaches of Pawan Express derailed 20 km from Nashik in Maharashtra. 2 people have been injured in the accident. After the incident, the Central Railway has sent a rescue and medical van (relief train) to the spot. The local administration is also engaged in relief and rescue work. The accident took place between Lahvit and Devlali at 3.10 pm on Sunday.
Gaurav Krishna Bansal, Executive Director (Information and Broadcasting), Ministry of Railways said that some people have been reported injured in this accident. No death has been confirmed yet. Railway’s LHB coach technology has saved the loss of life and property in the accident. Earlier, information about a dead body was found on the spot. Railway PRO says that it is not the body of the passenger and was lying on the track before the accident.
Two people have suffered minor injuries in the accident. Of these, Lakhimchand, a passenger in A1, suffered an injury on his forehead and Saroj Mishra, a passenger in B3, suffered a shoulder injury.
Those injured in the accident have been taken to the Government Hospital in Devlali.
The train number that crashed is 11061. This train is known as Pawan Express going from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Jaynagar (Darbhanga). The maximum damage has been done to A1, B2 bogie. It is being told that there is a hill bend at the accident site, where his wheel derailed. After this accident, the Central Railway has stopped five trains, while some trains have been diverted.
The maximum damage has been done in the AC coaches, the tracks have also been badly damaged.
The Central Railway has also issued a helpline number after the accident. Nashik’s Resident Deputy Collector Bhagwat Doifode said that he has asked the Nashik Tehsildar and Sub-Divisional Officer to take rescue and relief measures.
The local people, along with the railways and the administration, helped in evacuating the passengers from the train.
