Patrol intensified in Mysuru; Mobile units put into service. Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: After the gang rape of a girl student on Lalitadripura hill, located next to Chamundi Hills, the Mysore city police have intensified patrolling in the Heritage City to make people feel more secure.
Surveillance has been intensified during the night, and additional drivers have been deployed to steer the patrol vehicles. Police personnel deployed on surveillance vehicles equipped with recording equipment have been asked to move frequently to the deserted areas on the outskirts of the city.
Police are using bus ‘mobile command vehicles’ equipped with hi-tech cameras more widely as part of surveillance routines. Automobiles were reserved for use during Mysore Dussehra celebrations or similar events to prevent untoward incidents among the crowd. Buses are being parked every day at different places across the city including girls’ colleges. The camera has a range of 500 meters, and anything within that radius is captured with clarity. Police stationed on automobiles will be able to immediately alert their superiors if they see anyone moving suspiciously, or find anyone behaving inappropriately.
On the other hand, the public is sharing information with the police using the emergency response support system number – 112 to alert them about the movement of suspicious people in their neighbourhood. Police personnel have been deployed on the outskirts, especially in areas along the Outer Ring Road (ORR), and officers are tasked with monitoring security in areas identified as ‘crime prone’ under their jurisdiction. is directed.
Mysore City Police Commissioner Chandragupta expressed confidence that increased police presence would act as an effective deterrent against crime. “Every nook and cranny will be monitored day and night by the police. The surveillance has been intensified after dusk. All officers of police stations have been directed to visit the already identified places and deserted areas under their jurisdiction.
Chandragupta said that apart from the mobile command vehicle, four interceptors and patrol jeeps will be ubiquitous around the city. “The vehicles have high-vision cameras and can record incidents in crowded places,” the city police commissioner said.
The police managed to nab the accused in the gang rape case and those of jewelery theft and murder registered in Vidyaranyapuram, and in both the cases, those caught were not from Karnataka. In both the cases, the accused fled the city after committing the crime, prompting the police to introspect on the security measures adopted in Mysore.
