patna transport department official’s property worth 4 crore 52 lakh seized

Patna’s monitoring court has passed an order to confiscate the assets of Transport Department’s sub-inspector Arjun Prasad worth Rs 4 crore 52 lakh. Prasad was found guilty of illegally acquiring property. An application for confiscation of the property in Prasad’s name was filed on 20 May 2014 by the Special Public Prosecutor for surveillance.

Now after seven years, the monitoring court has asked the concerned authority to confiscate a building, 15 trucks and other properties registered in Prasad’s name in Digha. The Vigilance Investigation Bureau had filed a complaint of disproportionate assets against the sub-inspector of the Transport Department on 23 March 2013. Under the complaint, the bureau has mentioned disproportionate assets of Rs.

Special Public Prosecutor Vigilance Rajesh Kumar has said that the Patna Monitoring Court has “ordered confiscation of the building, 15 vehicles and insurance policy at Ramjichak Digha.”

It has been told that after the decision of the monitoring court, there has been a stir among those who have acquired property illegally.

Talking about problems related to land dispute, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said, “DM and SP should hold joint meeting once in a month to resolve land-related disputes only. SDO and SDPO will hold a similar joint meeting at the subdivision level once in a fortnight, while the meeting of the circle office and station in-charge will be held once a week. The authorities should take strict action against those found guilty of wrongdoing in the matter of land transfer.
