With the Meteorological Department warning of severe heatwave during the next few days, the Patna district administration on Friday directed all school authorities in the capital to revise their timings.

As the heat wave increased in Bihar, the mercury crossed 40 degrees Celsius at many places in the state and it touched 41.5 degrees in Patna city. “The district administration prohibits academic activities for all classes (including pre-schools and Anganwadi centres) after 11.45 am in all schools in the district. School authorities are directed to reschedule their timings of academic activities in consonance with the order. This order will come into effect from April 15,” Patna District Magistrate Chandra Shekhar Singh said in the order issued on Friday.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature in Patna was 41.5 degree Celsius and Gaya and Rohtas recorded 41.3 degree Celsius and 41.2 degree respectively. Jamui recorded a maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius, Aurangabad 40.7 degrees Celsius and Khagaria 40.6 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
