Paris Paralympics Day 4 Wrap: Athletes Nishad Kumar, Preeti Pal Script History, Badminton Unit Assures Medals – News18

Team India added a couple of medals to their tally to climb to seven medals at the Paris Paralympics 2024 as high jumper Nishad Kumar and athlete Preeti Pal registered podium finishes in their respective events.

Nisha clinched the silver medal in the Men’s High Jump T47 event with a season-best jump of 2.04m after Preeti rewrote the history books with her second medal in the quadrennial as he clocked a personal best of 30.01 sec to come in third in the women’s 200m T45 event.

Three badminton stars, Nitesh Kumar, Suhas and Thusalimathi Murugesan, assured medals for the nation as they moved into the final of their respective events.

Para-archer Rakesh Kumar missed out on a medal in dramatic fashion as he went down in the bronze-medal playoff after having come through the rounds preceding the semifinals with aplomb.

Para Shooting: R3 – Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 Qualification – Avani Lekhara Sidhartha Babu: Lekhara finished 11th with a score of 632.8, Sidhartha finished 28th with 628.3 points.

Para Athletics: Women’s 1500m T11 – Round 1 – Rakshita Raju finished 4th with a timing of 5:29.92, but failed to qualify.

Para-Badminton: Women’s Singles SU5 Quarterfinals – Manisha Ramadass beat Japan’s Mamiko Toyoda 21-13, 21-16

Para Rowing: Mixed Double Sculls (PR3 MIX2X) Final B – Anita and K Narayana: The Indian duo’s stay at Paris came to an end as they finished 2nd in PR3 Mixed Double Sculls Final B with a timing of 8:16.96 and 8th overall.

Para Shooting: R5 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH2 Qualification – Sriharsha Devaraddi finished 26th with a total score of 630.2 points.

Para Athletics: Men’s Shotput F40 Final – Ravi Rangoli finished 5th with a Personal Best throw of 10.63 to miss out on a medal.

Para-Badminton: Women’s Singles SH6 Quarterfinals – Nithya Sre beat Oliwia Szmigiel 21-4, 21-7.

Para Archery: Men’s Individual Compound Open 1/8 Elimination Round – Rakesh Kumar beat Ken Swagumilang of Indonesia in a shoot-off after they were tied at 144 each at the end of Round 5.

Para-Badminton: Men’s Singles SL3 Semifinal – Nitesh Kumar beat Daisuke Fijuhara 21-16, 21-12.

Para Table Tennis- Women’s Singles Class 4 Round of 16 – Bhavinaben Patel beat Martha Verdin 11-3, 11-6, 11-7.

Para Archery: Men’s Individual Compound Open Quarterfinal – Rakesh Kumar beat Kyle Tremblay on shoot-off after the archers were tied at 144-144 at the end of Round 5.
