It was not an ideal day for Indian athletes as Bhaker and Kumari came ever so close to adding to India’s medals tally, but fell short in agonizing fashion. Similar was the case with boxer Nishant too, as he was shown the exit by Mexican boxer Marco Verde in the quarterfinal of the 71 Kg event.
As Day 8 of the Paris Olympics 2024 comes to an end, the Indian contingent might be down with a couple of heartbreaking results coming from the shooting and archery contingents.
In the Women’s Skeet Qualifying event, Maheshwari Chauhan could have a chance to make it to the final event if she can pull it together in the next segment. She currently stands at eighth and is two spots away from making her way to the final.
Manu Bhaker was in the spotlight once again in the Women’s Air Pistol 25m final but she was not able to carry forward her momentum after finishing second in the qualifier as the shoot-off against Hungary’s Veronika Major resulted in her exit at fourth.
In Archery, Deepika Kumari put in a solid run as she made her way to the quarterfinals but was defeated by the Korean Republic’s Suhyeon Nam to miss out on a possible bronze medal.

- Golf – Men’s Individual Stroke Play Round 3 – Gaganjeet Bhullar ends two over par with 215 points and is at joint 34th and Shubankar Sharma finishes two under par and sits at joint 31st with 211 points
- Shooting – Skeet Men’s Qualification – Day 2 – Anant Jeet Singh Naruka finishes at 24th with a total of 116 points.
- Shooting – Skeet Women’s Qualification – Day 1 – Maheswari Chauhan sits at 8th with 23, 24 and 24 points while Raiza Dhillon finishes at 25th with a total of 21, 22 and 23 respectively at the end of three rounds.
- Shooting – 25m Piston Women’s Final – Manu Bhaker finishes fourth after a shoot-off against Hungary’s Veronika Major and ends with a total of 28 points.
- Archery – Women’s Individual 1/8 Elimination Round – Deepika Kumari beats Germany’s Michelle Kroppen 6-4
- Archery – Women’s Individual 1/8 Elimination Round – Bhajan Kaur is eliminated after being defeated by Indonesia’s Diananda Choirunisa 5-6.
- Sailing – Women’s Dinghy Race 4 – Nethra Kumanan finishes 28th with a time of 48:51
- Sailing – Women’s Dinghy Race 5 – Nethra Kumanan finishes 28th with a time of 48:09
- Sailing – Women’s Dinghy Race 6 – Nethra Kumanan finishes 20th with a time of 43:59
- Sailing – Men’s Dinghy Race 5 – Vishnu Saravanan finishes at 21st with a time of 44:38
- Sailing – Men’s Dinghy Race 6 – Vishnu Saravanan finishes at 13th with a time of 43:30.
- Archery – Women’s Individual Quarterfinal – Deepika Kumari is defeated by Korean Republic’s Suhyeon Nam 4-6.
- Boxing – Men’s 71 kg Quarterfinal – Nishant Dev defeated by Mexico’s Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez 1-4 on points.
