Shuddh Desi Romance was the debut film of actress Vaani Kapoor, who starred opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Rishi Kapoor in a romantic comedy. Yash Raj Productions presented a different look at the man-woman relationship and also presented melodious music to the audience. As the Maneesh Sharma directorial completes 8 years of release, Parineeti and Vaani recalled their experience of working in the film and also their co-stars – Sushant Singh Rajput and Rishi Kapoor, who are no more with us.
In a long post, Vaani thanked the makers for giving her this opportunity. “You always remember your beginnings and where it all started. If it wasn’t for my filmmaker #ManeeshSharma, I could have totally chuckled. Being a shy and quiet person… Was given a chance to play a fierce role in the film which was very fearless, confident and courageous.Thanks to Adi, Manish and my dear Shanu for giving me this wonderful opportunity.. I was so happy to be your star!
She also paid tribute to Rishi Kapoor, and called Sushant the best first co-star she could have asked for. “Rishi sir, I cannot express in words how much it meant to me to share screen space with him, his charm and charisma are forever unmatched. Even though I didn’t share much screen space with Pari… I remember being clearly stuck in our scene together, you’re an amazing actor, helping me calm my shaky nerves It was even more generous so that I could perform at my best! Sushant you were the best first co actor one could ask for! we miss you.”
Both the actresses shared a behind-the-scenes look at the film featuring Sushant and Rishi Kapoor. Parineeti said in her post, “Miss you Sush. Miss you Rishi sir. Missing you today…”
Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on June 14, 2020 at this Mumbai residence. Set in Jaipur, Shuddh Desi Romance explores the younger generation’s views on commitment, live-in relationships and arranged marriages as compared to love marriages in small-town India. .
