Thane Police had issued a lookout notice

In the case of extortion and extortion, a case was registered against 28 people including Parambir Singh by Ketan Tanna in Thane. Ketan had accused Parambir of extortion by implicating him on false charges. Lookout notices have been issued against all the 28 accused in the case. Some of the accused in the case are already in jail. This lookout notice was issued so that the other accused should not flee abroad. However, despite this Parambir Singh is missing.

Mumbai Police had also sent summons
The Mumbai Crime Branch had summoned him on October 9 for questioning in the recovery case. But, neither he himself came nor did any answer come from his side. The Maharashtra State Home Department has started the legal process to declare Parambir Singh, former Mumbai Police Commissioner, as an absconder. The Home Department has also sought help from the Intelligence Bureau in locating Parambir.

Disappeared citing ill health
Parambir Singh has been missing since May after going on leave due to health reasons. Several letters were sent to Singh at his Chandigarh residence and inquiries were made about his whereabouts, but no response was received. Last month, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil had said that they were looking into the provisions of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules to take action against the IPS officer.

During the proceedings of the Chandiwal Commission of Inquiry set up last week, senior advocates Abhinav Chandrachud and Asif Lumpwala in Mumbai appeared on behalf of former police commissioner Parambir Singh and filed an affidavit along with power of attorney on his behalf. This power of attorney has been made in Chandigarh and it states that a person named Mahesh Panchal has been empowered to represent Parambir Singh in the commission of inquiry. The affidavit further stated that Parambir Singh does not intend to make any submissions before the committee.
