Thane: Another criminal case registered against Param Bir Lion Thane’s Kopri police station.
Various charges, including extortion, cheating and conspiracy, have been leveled against Singh and the then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Parag Manare and other Thane city police officers, a senior official said.
The complainant is the nephew of builder Shyamsunder Agarwal, who has registered another case of extortion against Singh at Marine Drive police station.
Besides Singh, the Marine Drive police have registered a case against seven others, including five policemen and two civilians.
Police have arrested two civilians identified as Sunil Jain and Sanjay Punamiya. He was produced before the Eighth Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, from where he was remanded in police custody till July 27.
Punamiya and Agarwal were partners in realty projects in Gorai, Borivali and Bhayandar, but parted ways in 2011 after a dispute. The complaint states that Punamiya used her relationship with Singh to intimidate Agarwal over the years and extort money from him.
