Pappu Yadav acquitted in 32-year-old kidnapping case. Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) supremo and former MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav The MLA/MP special court in Madhepura on Monday acquitted him for lack of evidence in the kidnapping case registered in 1989. Yadav was arrested in this case from Patna on May 11 this year.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-III, Nishikant Thakur, who is also in-charge of the MLA/MP special court, pronounced the verdict in the presence of Yadav, who was taken from Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) to Madhepura, where he was admitted for treatment.
Yadav’s lawyer Manoj Kumar Ambastha said his client would be released from judicial custody after completing the legal formalities.
Earlier, the victims, appearing before the court, admitted that the case was registered against Yadav in a state of confusion. “We were never abducted, as claimed in the FIR,” a senior lawyer quoted the victims as saying.
According to the prosecution, Yadav was charged with apprehending Umakant Yadav Ram Kumar Yadav Captive after a dispute over the marriage of a girl in Madhepura. He was also accused of intimidation to withdraw the case registered at Murliganj police station on 29 January 1989.
Ram Kumar’s cousin Shailendra Yadav had filed a case against Yadav at Murliganj police station in Madhepura district. A settlement petition was also filed in the court by the victims, paving the way for their early release.
A Patna court had on July 19 granted him bail in a case related to picketing and procession in the state capital. The JAP started the movement in support of the farmers’ protest against the agricultural bills.
Earlier, the Patna High Court had directed the MP/MLA special court to dispose of the matter within six months. “I have full faith in the justice system. I have been acquitted of the charges by the honorable court,” a jubilant Yadav told reporters outside the Madhepura court.
Returning to his political stand on various issues, he said the Uttar Pradesh incident in which eight people were killed will weigh heavily on the ruling coalition at the Centre. “This is no ordinary incident. This is an expression of the collapse of the democratic structure of the country. Be it the case of farmers or youth, there is harassment all around,” he said and warned of dire consequences in the days to come.
Meanwhile, rumors intensified about Yadav contesting the by-election as JAP state president from Tarapur assembly constituency in Munger district. Raghvendra Singh Kushwaha The party’s move was indicated on Sunday. JAP sources did not rule out the possibility of JAP merging with Congress in the coming days.
