This is the first Olympics for 23-year-old Neeraj, who hails from Khandara village near Panipat in Haryana.

Athletes usually pay close attention to their diet and stay away from junk food to maintain their body. Well, according to Neeraj Chopra, our desi pani puri is the best street food snack for athletes. Neeraj disclosed this in an interview given to ESPN.

Our gold medalist told ESPN that she thinks there’s nothing wrong with eating pani puri. In his opinion it is the best street food for athletes if eaten in one go. The reason behind this is that pani puri contains mostly water which fills your stomach. Poori is very light and is made from flour. There is very little spice in pani puri too, so there is no harm in eating it.

Do you know that Neeraj Chopra is also a good cook and is proud of his salty rice recipe? When asked about his favorite cheat meal after the win in an interview with ESPN, Neeraj Chopra said that he usually likes to eat something sweet. Neeraj said that usually he limits the amount of sweets he eats, but he actually prefers homemade churma, which is prepared from crushed roti, ghee and sugar. This is something he normally can’t eat while training, so it’s the perfect cheat food for him.
