A five-member delegation from Pakistan has come to India via the Wagah-Attari border to discuss the water dispute between the two countries.

The Pakistani delegation arrived in India on Sunday morning and is scheduled to hold meetings with the Indian side in New Delhi on Monday and Tuesday.

Pakistan’s Indus Water Commissioner Syed Muhammad Meher Ali Shah said, “There will be talks on sharing of flood forecast data, while the annual report of PCJW (Pakistan Indus Water Commission) will also be discussed during the talks.”

The Pak delegation had shared their objections and objections to the spillway and freeboard of the Pakal Dul project during their last round of talks, demanding that a site visit should be arranged in early May and a discussion on the issue should be made. And there should be an annual meeting. may be held and the discussion on the matter may be made a part of the Annual Report and Minutes of the PCIW.

However, the Indian side has not yet fulfilled the demand to visit the Pakal Dul project and the Pak delegation will not visit the dams.

Mehr Ali Shah said, “The Pakistani delegation will not visit the under-construction Pakal Dul and Lower Kalnaz dams, but the matter and other projects will be discussed.”

“Pakistan has always insisted on implementing the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) and voiced India’s behavior in a timely manner,” Shah said.

In March this year, both India and Pakistan had reiterated their commitment to truly implement the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) and expressed hope that the next meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission would take place as scheduled. An early date in India.

Don’t expect much from the meeting. However, regular meetings between the two arch-rival neighbors held annually alternately in India and Pakistan are certainly a step forward in the direction of bilateral relations.
