While Sajal Ali is an established star in Pakistan, the young actress also starred opposite Sridevi in Ravi Udyawar’s 2017 crime-thriller Mom. In a recent interview, Sajal Aly talked about his bond with Sridevi and also shared his views about the current restrictions on artistic collaborations between India and Pakistan.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Sajal Aly said, “I was very close to Sridevi ji. She unfortunately left us very soon. I’ve never really talked about her and my relationship. But I have to say that it is really unfortunate that we artistes get caught in the tension between the two countries. Our work hurts. I got a lot of love and respect when I worked in Bollywood, which is close to my heart till date. I feel I should have a house in India as she was very close to me.
He further added, “She was like my mother. It was not just a work relationship that we had. It was more than that. She came to India when I was shooting for Mom, which is when she met my mother. My mother left us before the release of the film and then after a few months Sridevi really left us. It was a very emotional bond, we used to talk on phone for hours where she used to guide me like her own daughter. I really miss her.”
It was a kind of deja vu feeling for Sajal Aly when she met and hugged Jhanvi Kapoor At the Filmfare Middle East Achievers Night, a star-studded event attended by eminent celebs from both sides of the border. Sajal had also expressed his desire to build a house in India while answering a question asked to him.
At the event held in Dubai, Sajal Ali had pointed out that an event of this magnitude is a good opportunity to mingle with his contemporaries from across the border. He also cited meeting Ranveer Singh, Govinda
