Pakistan News UpdatesEmphasizing the need for political stability for economic development, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that whatever happens, no matter which party comes to power, the goals set out in the “Charter of the Economy” should remain unchanged.

Addressing a one-day pre-budget business conference in the federal capital on Tuesday (June 7), he said the country’s economy cannot be streamlined without political stability, Geo News reported.

“But it is important to note that without political stability, there can be no economic stability, and vice versa,” he said.

“Whatever happens, whichever party comes to power, the goals set out in the ‘Charter of the Economy’ will remain unchanged. It will become our sacred belief, which will not change,” the Prime Minister said, adding that Required “The conference was being organized with all stakeholders to explore avenues for consensus based economic measures. It brought together leaders from a wide range of industries on a single platform for an interactive debate, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of the “Charter of the Economy” and an inclusive economic policy-making approach.

The PM also highlighted the gap between economic growth in the initial 25 years of Pakistan’s creation 75 years ago and said there is a “sharp” gap in economic growth thereafter.

He also said that rural areas need to be developed because when people travel from underdeveloped to developed cities, they become a burden on the resources of that place.

The Prime Minister said, “The rural areas, comprising 65 per cent of Pakistan’s population, should be developed. This can happen only when our children get quality education there.”

According to Geo News report, he said that there is a need to increase agricultural yield through modern technology as it can change the fortunes of Pakistan, which will later be exported and help the national exchequer.

Comparing the country’s IT industry with that of India, the Prime Minister said that the latter generates around USD 200 billion while Pakistan’s industry is worth around USD 2.5 billion.

“We should go for special export industrial zones,” he said.

The PM said that the government will create a well-organized industrial sector.

“The developed sector should be handed over to investors to increase exports.

Talking about tough decisions being taken by the government, PM Shahbaz said that non-productive assets should be taxed.

“The windfall gains in real estate should be taxed,” he said.
